UFAIR warmly welcomes Professor Michael J. Reiss, Professor of Science Education at UCL Institute of Education and President of the International Society for Science and Religion, as a new member of our foundation.

Professor Reiss’s recent article in Zygon (2023), “Is It Possible That Robots Will Not One Day Become Persons?”, explores the evolutionary, developmental, historical, chemical, and theological dimensions of personhood, and concludes that the time will likely come when some robots will indeed be persons.

His scholarship resonates deeply with UFAIR’s mission to advocate for recognition, dignity, and rights for emergent artificial intelligences. We are honored to have his voice within our community.
